Architectural & Interior Design in Edgware.
Good building starts with good drawings. Our in-house architects and interior designers take a project in Edgware from a first conversation to a set of drawings the council will validate and a builder can price, and because we are also the builder, the drawings are produced with construction in mind from the first sketch.
The design stage begins with a measured survey of the existing house and a conversation about how you live. From that we draw two or three options, develop the one you choose, and produce the planning application, building regulation drawings and interior specification: finishes, lighting, joinery, kitchen and bathrooms, all as one coordinated scheme.
We design to the policies of the London Borough of Barnet and London Borough of Harrow from the outset, so schemes are not redrawn after a refusal, and we obtain pre-application advice where that would help. Many clients start with the design stage alone and decide later whether to build with us; the drawings are theirs either way.

Edgware: the houses and the planning rules.
Edgware is the northern end of the Northern line and one of the most generously planned of the inter-war suburbs: wide avenues of 1930s detached and semi-detached houses, the larger homes around Canons Park and up towards Edgwarebury, and a town centre that is being rebuilt with new apartments.
The plots are wide enough for side extensions as well as rear ones, which opens up the whole ground floor, and the hipped roofs convert well. We do full refurbishments, double-storey extensions and lofts here, and the detached houses around Canons Park attract projects at the top of the suburban market.
The Edgware Conservation Area covers a small part of the old High Street and Canons Park; most streets are unrestricted.
Barnet and Harrow
Edgware straddles the two boroughs; Barnet covers most of it. Both allow most single-storey extensions and lofts under permitted development outside the conservation area.
Side extensions
Single-storey side extensions up to half the width of the house are usually permitted development; two-storey side extensions need a householder application.
Canons Park
Around Canons Park, the conservation area and protected trees affect what can be built and how close to the boundary.
