Away from the Broadway, Hammersmith is a district of tight Victorian terraces: Brackenbury Village's two-storey cottages, the larger houses around Ravenscourt Park, and the Georgian and Victorian houses along the river at the Mall. The terraces are narrow, the gardens are short and the demand for space is constant.
